upcoming events


  • This Saturday (February 6) is the Multi Cultural Festival in Civic, we will be campaigning near the roundabout, please come and join in! We need as much help as possible to talk to as many people as possible at this big all-day event.
  • Politics in the Pub “Did Copenhagen sink Tuvalu?” will be held 6pm, Tuesday, 9 February at the Uni Bar (17 London Circuit) - organised by the Australia Institute.

The speaker will be Ian Fry, who represented Tuvalu at the Copenhagen negotiations. Tuvalu spearheaded the drive by 105 countries for a target of 350 ppml of CO2 and 1.5 degrees which was strongly resisted by the US, Russia, Australia, the UK, Canada and other developed nations.With CO2 levels on track to exceed 450 pp ml and two degrees and therefore taking us beyond a 50/50 chance of runaway global warming, the first casualties will Tuvalu, Maldives, Kiribati and other low lying islands.

  • The next Canberra Socialist Alliance branch meeting will be this coming Wednesday February 10, 6.30pm at the Activist Centre.
